IB Physics tutor — SL & HL.

Renzo Diaz is an IB Physics tutor based in Milan, working online with students worldwide. One-to-one tutoring at Standard and Higher Level — application-only, built on a documented weekly method, with every session recorded and archived.

IB Physics punishes a specific habit: memorising formulas without the reasoning that connects them. Paper 2 doesn't ask what a formula says — it asks whether you can build the path from the situation to the equation, and defend every step.

That path is trainable. The work starts by finding where your child's reasoning actually breaks — the physics, the maths underneath it, or the exam technique on top — and rebuilds from there, against real IB questions, on a documented weekly rhythm.

Formula selection: they can recite it, they can't choose it.

The most common wall in IB Physics isn't knowledge — it's selection. Faced with an unfamiliar situation, students reach for the last formula they saw instead of reading what the problem actually describes. And under exam time, the wrong first choice costs twice: the marks for this question, and the minutes owed to the next one. That instinct is rebuilt, not lectured away.

Data-based questions: the concepts make sense, the questions still don't.

Data-based and unfamiliar-context questions are where the IB separates understanding from recognition. Students who "get it" in the abstract freeze when the numbers are real. We train exactly that transfer, every single week.

Maths inside physics: it's the real problem, not the physics itself.

A surprising share of Physics stuckness is actually algebra, trigonometry, or graph interpretation wearing a Physics costume. With an engineer's eye for both subjects, I treat the cause — not the costume.

HL pace: it turned confidence into survival mode.

Higher Level doesn't just add topics — it adds pace and depth at the same time. Students who were comfortable at IGCSE or MYP suddenly feel permanently behind. The fix is structure, not more hours.

Coverage

Two levels, two different courses. Find yours.

SL and HL share the same five themes and the same papers, but HL adds a layer of depth that changes how the whole course has to be prepared. Each level has its own page, with the situations, syllabus coverage and exam technique specific to it.

The method

A documented weekly system, not ad-hoc lessons.

Every week opens with what went wrong last week — because wrong answers are the real diagnostic information. We work on what's live from school, advance the syllabus in order, and record everything into an archive you and your child can search any time. You always know exactly where things stand.

Documented, not promised

From low grades to a 7 in IB Physics — in writing.

Blake brought both IB Physics and Maths AI up from low grades to 7s. Leandro reached a 7 in Physics alongside a 5 in Maths HL. Their reviews — and the school emails and messages behind them — are on the results page, verifiable on Google.
