Biography

Renzo Diaz biography, in a short and a long version

Either version can be used as it stands. When shortening, please keep the degree, the dates and the two results in the form written here: each one matches its record.

Short version

67 words

Renzo Diaz is an engineer and IB Mathematics and Physics tutor, based in Italy and teaching one-to-one online worldwide. He holds an M.Sc. in Energy Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano and teaches IB Mathematics (AA and AI) and IB Physics at both levels. Teaching IB since 2016. Seven years of IB reviews you can check on Google — and named results with the documents behind them.

Long version

163 words

Renzo Diaz is an engineer and an independent tutor of IB Mathematics and IB Physics. He teaches one student at a time, live online, in English or Spanish, for families at international schools in Italy and abroad.

He holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería in Lima and an M.Sc. in Energy Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, completed in 2020. He has taught IB students since April 2016: in Lima, in Milan from March 2018 and online worldwide since 2020.

His teaching follows a diagnostic method informed by root cause analysis in engineering: diagnose the cause of a difficulty, re-engineer the explanation around the student’s reasoning, then verify that the understanding transfers to new problems. Two students’ IB results are documented by name, among them 7 in both IB Math AI SL exam papers (May 2024) and a final 7 in IB Physics SL (May 2025). His public Google reviews date back to June 2020.

Topics

Topics Renzo Diaz can speak on: IB exams, IB subject choices and university entry

Each topic rests on an analysis already published in the Index, the site’s reference library for IB and IGCSE families, with its sources named. The Index is in English.

  1. The first IB Physics exams on the 2025 guide

Which themes carried the marks in the May 2025 papers, set against the teaching hours the guide gives each theme.

    The 2025 marks by theme
  2. IB Maths AA or AI, and what universities ask for

How 30 UK programmes in engineering, computer science, economics and physics treat the two IB Mathematics courses for 2027 entry, read from the universities’ own course pages.

    What universities require
  3. The IB Diploma in Milan’s international schools

Which international schools in and around Milan offer the IB Diploma Programme, read from the IB’s own directory, and the routes into it.

  4. How families can check a tutor’s claims

How to tell a claim a family can check from one it has to trust: dates set by a platform, named credentials, and course knowledge tested on its own.

    How to choose a tutor
  5. An engineer’s approach to teaching mathematics and physics

How training in engineering shapes a lesson: diagnose the cause of a difficulty, re-engineer the explanation, verify that the understanding transfers.
